I was super excited to eat at Blue Pacific Lancaster PA last Thursday during my lunch break. Luckily for me, the sushi bar was right down the road from my office off of Oregon Pike. I was ready to enjoy a relaxing lunch and regroup for my afternoon appointments. I have been reevaluating my eating habits, and I wanted to try a healthy option.
When I walk into the restaurant it is like walking into the Baltimore Aquarium. It is dark and cool. There are tons of fish pictures and sculptures on the wall. Harrison, the owner, sits down with me at a booth and points me to his lunch menu. He tells me to get whatever I want and enjoy.
Now, I realize that I am in a sushi restaurant, but again I am trying to make different, healthier food choices. I decide I want to order something that I normally wouldn’t gravitate towards eating. I spot the Vegetable Maki. I know, I know, it is not sushi. How dare I?! But who can turn down fresh avocado and cucumber? I also order the Fried Crab Wontons. I can never resist wontons. I know what you’re thinking, “Fried Wontons aren’t exactly healthy.” You’re right, but they are delicious and come with fresh crab meat, shrimp, scallions, and of course cream cheese. It is a no-brainer to order the wontons! I place my order and look around a bit.
Blue Pacific has a very calm atmosphere. I am sitting in the dining room and to my right is the sushi bar where I see the chef preparing sushi rolls. A family of three sits in the front of the dining room. They browse the lunch menu.
My Vegetable Maki and Fried Crab Wontons are ready in no time. I realize how hungry I am (since I have been going to the gym every morning) and dive into my wontons. The flaky bubble holds the crab meat and cream cheese in a warm pocket of greatness. Yum!
I see fresh avocado piled onto my veggie rolls. I pick up my chopsticks and lightly dip into the soy sauce. I fumble a bit with my sticks, and my roll comes unraveled. I now have a mini salad on my plate. It is so fresh and exactly what I wanted for a light lunch. Carrots are also in the Vegetable Maki which add the perfect crunch. I pack up a couple rolls to take home for a snack.
The waitress checks on me and fills my water. She brings out a box and sends me on my way. What a perfect, easy lunch! I grab a mint and head back to my car.
