How does this work?

You place your order with Carryout Courier either on our website or by phone. We will collect all the needed information to deliver your order. Your order includes a processing fee of $4.99 (see additional notes below on the processing fee). This is separate from the tip for your delivery waiter/waitress. We generally recommend a tip of 15-20%. Your meal is normally delivered in 45-60 minutes.

What is your delivery area?

We deliver throughout Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York.  Check out our York, PA delivery area map, our Lancaster, PA delivery area map, and our our Harrisburg, PA delivery area map.

What is the order processing fee?

We have a $4.99 processing fee for all Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York deliveries. Deliveries greater than 5.25 miles are charged an extra $1 per mile. Mileage is calculated in a straight line (the way a crow flies), not the actual miles driven. Rate is actual miles not rounded up, so your delivery fee could be $5.02 or $5.37, etc. 90+% of all deliveries fall under 5.25 miles. The Delivery Waiter gratuity is not included in this order processing fee. They check and pack your order just like a waiter or waitress. A tip of 15-20% is customary. Your delivery waiter does not receive any portion of the processing fee. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

What is the minimum order for delivery?

Our minimum order is $8.00 of food and drink.

How long until delivery?

Our delivery time is usually 45 minutes to an hour. Times could vary depending on traffic, weather conditions, and restaurant preparation time. We do not place the order with the restaurant until we have a driver available to pick up your meal. This ensures the freshest possible food.

Lunch orders timed for 11:30 am to noon should be placed 90 minutes before delivery, when possible. As always, we’ll do our best to accommodate your delivery. Some of our restaurants do require 24 hour notice for catering orders.

What are our hours?

May I place an advanced or timed delivery?

Yes, we can accept orders for days or weeks in advance. You can also specify a delivery time when you place an advanced order.

Can we pay with check or credit card?

We accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and most bank debit cards). We only accept checks from customers on our approved list. $30 fee for returned checks.

Important Note about Credit Card Authorizations & Holds

If your choice of payment method is credit card, Carryout Courier obtains an ‘Authorization Approval’ which indicates that the card is valid and usable. At the end of the night, the actual charge is run including any gratuity if you chose to add it to the card.

When you cancel an order after the ‘Authorization’ has been obtained, or if you switch the order from credit card to cash, it can take up to 5-7 business days for the ‘Authorization’ to be removed and for the funds to be available for your use.

If you check your statement online and see the word ‘Authorization’ or ‘Pending’ that does not indicate an actual charge was run.

Carryout Courier does not have any control over this process and there is nothing we can do to speed up the process. If you have any questions, please contact your credit card company or bank.

May I include a tip on my credit card and will the driver receive the tip?

Yes, you may include the tip on the credit card and the driver will receive their tip. We usually suggest 15-20%. When you check out online or with over the phone with your Customer Service rep, you can add a tip by dollar amount or percentage. Please remember, just like a waiter or waitress, the drivers check your orders to confirm all items ordered are delivered.

We reserve the right to include gratuity or add additional.

Our delivery waiters and waiters are important to us and we cannot serve you without them. We have specific guidelines for checking your order, and they use their own vehicles. We want to ensure they are compensated properly. We do reserve the right to add the gratuity to your bill. Or increase the gratuity to a reasonable amount.

How can I get gift certificates?

You may order them on our website by clicking on the Gift Certificate. Sorry online only. Our offices are not regularly staffed.

Please confirm the recipient is within our delivery area.

The item is not on the menu, can we still get it?

Mostly all items are available, as long as it is on their house menu and we have the price for the item. There are some items that the restaurant may not offer for delivery. These items may be specials, items that do not travel well or those that are eat in only. If you check with the restaurant to see if an item is available before you call Carryout Courier, make sure you tell them it is for delivery through Carryout Courier and find out the price. We cannot deliver meals ordered directly with the restaurant.

Do you take coupons for the restaurants?

We take coupons only if they are from Carryout Courier. We do not accept restaurant gift certificates/gift cards.

Meals are placed in insulated food storage bags to stay fresh

We care about the quality of your meals. Meals are placed in insulated food storage bags to stay fresh for delivery. They go into the back inside the restaurant. And they stay in the insulated food bag until they arrive at your door.

Will the food be hot?

We try to time your order so the delivery waiter arrives at the restaurant as the meals are coming out of the oven. Because of this, your order is not placed with the restaurant until we know we have a delivery waiter available.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, the delivery waiter checks your order to ensure completeness; packs the meals in our heat insulated bags (or coolers for cold items) and then drive to your location. We make every effort to deliver fresh, quality meals to your door. However, certain items do not travel well and may need to be briefly reheated. Thank you.

What if I am not happy?

Prices, items & service fee may change without notice.

We do our best to keep all of the information on the website up to day. However, there is the occasional restaurant that neglects to tell us about price change until we send them an order. Boy that is super frustrating.

Large orders may be pre-ordered and a pre-arranged delivery time may be set.

Cancelling Orders

If the restaurant starts preparing the food, you may not cancel, we will need to charge you for the food. We do not send the order to the restaurant until we have a driver available. That could be in 1 second or 10 minutes. We want your order to be fresh.
