Mick’s All American Pub is located at 1411 Columbia Avenue in Lancaster. The pub has the perfect location for parents who drop their kids off at the roller skating rink, or for those of us who drive to the grocery store but are too exhausted to cook anything after we buy groceries. Columbia Avenue is a main street filled with businesses and shopping.
Jason, my boyfriend, and I head over to the restaurant for dinner during the week. It is a crisp fall evening, and we are ready to try some pub food. Andrea, our waitress, breaks down the menu page by page. My eyes are jumping all over as I see pictures of burgers, sandwiches, wings, cheesy nachos, and salads. Andrea makes a point to explain that a lot of customers come to Mick’s All American Grill for the wings.
Wings and beer are popular, especially during football season. Jason and I order a dozen Amber wings with blue cheese. We spot the Stephanie sandwich, and Andrea tells us that it is popular, so we go for that as well. Finally, the Southwestern Chicken Rolls are a cheesy appetizer that we both want to try.
There are two guys sitting behind us in a booth indulging in some hot wings. We see the bar is packed with guests watching a game and drinking beer. It is a fun atmosphere. The wait staff is very attentive to their customers. It is a place you would want to be with a group of your friends on a chilly evening. Best of all, our food comes out in a matter of minutes!
I can handle a hot and spicy chicken wing. I usually prefer a pretty intense wing. The Amber wings had some kick to them, but they had a delicious barbeque taste. I wasn’t expecting such a different taste. Dip some of those wings in the blue cheese and your taste buds went on a ride!
Jason took the first bite of the chicken rolls. Cheese oozed from the tortilla. The appetizer was filled with onions, red peppers, jalapenos, cheese mix, and chicken breast. I would take a bite of the roll and then take a bite of the chicken wing. I couldn’t decide which food I wanted to indulge in. Andrea said the Southwestern Chicken Rolls are one of her favorites. The sauce that comes with the rolls are part of the experience as well.
The Stephanie sandwich is placed on our table at some point as I am shoveling a chicken wing into my mouth. Before I know it, Jason already devoured half of the sandwich. I quickly grabbed the other half so he doesn’t eat that too! The sandwich has sliced turkey, Swiss cheese, horseradish, (Jason’s favorite) and cole slaw on rye bread. We substituted regular fries for sweet potato fries. The texture of the cole slaw mixed into the turkey was fantastic. It had some crunch and kick from the horseradish. I ate a couple of bites, and then Jason swooped in to finish off the sandwich.
Andrea as well as other staff members checked on our table multiple times. They were very accommodating and were looking to make our dining experience enjoyable. Andrea had a smile on her face the whole time. Jason and I sat and enjoyed each other’s company for a little longer. We had our leftovers boxed up. There were still a lot of people crowded around the bar enjoying a drink. The dining area was buzzing with happy customers.
The following day I had the leftover Amber wings for lunch. We took home a half dozen, and I figured I should leave Jason half for when he came home from work. I ate my three with much enjoyment. I couldn’t help myself from eating the remaining three I had left in the container. The wings were just as good the second time around!
